Compact Earpiece Speaker

The actual speaker portion of the Speedcom SCC-SEIH Single Ear Intercom Headset is very compact, measuring approximately 3.5 cm in diameter and 2 cm thick including the pillow pad. This pillow pad compresses easily and has the right amount of give for comfort.

Earpiece Flex Boom Microphone

Attached to the speaker is a noise cancelling microphone on a flexible boom. The flex portion of the boom is 14 cm (5.5 in.) long and the mini-microphone adds 4 cm (1.5 in.), making it 18 cm (7 in.) long in total so it can easily reach your mouth. The compact overall size of the Speedcom SCC-SEIH has worked in every helmet we tested it in.

Earpiece Wiring Harness

Why do students pull the earpiece out by the wires? That's a question for the ages. Speedcom changes how headsets are built by making the harness with a built-in molded plug. Other brands use the compression of the two speaker piece halves to hold the wire, but Speedcom uses a wire that has the security block built into the harness during manufacturing.

Is this a more expensive way to build a headset? Yes. Is it the better way to build a headset? Also yes. Using the most popular racing protocol, the IMSA lead is 3 ft. 9 in. long. That's a perfect length whether your intercom is dash mounted, wedged between the seats of a D.E. car, or held in the instructor's hand.
